- 1 Cup Jaggery 200gm
- 1 Cup Sesame Seeds
- 1 Cup Water
- ½ Teaspoon Ground Cardamom or Elaichi
In a non-stick pan add 1 cup of til or white sesame seeds. Dry roast til on medium-low heat until you get a toasty and nutty fragrance. Take it out on a plate.
In a separate pan melt 1 cup gud (jaggery) with 1 cup water. Allow it to come to a boil over low heat.Once it is half melted add ghee and cardamom powder. Stir well and allow it to come to a deeper and darker colour. You will know it is done when you take a small about of jaggery and place it in a bowl of water. If it forms a ball, it means it is completely done.Add the Til and stir until combined. Now pour this on a greased flat plate or a wooden chopping board. Apply some ghee over a parchment paper and keep it over the gud. Roll it gently to flatten it out.
Lastly, take a knife and grease it with ghee or butter. Cut out squares of sizes that you prefer. Enjoy when cooled down completely.
- You can store these til chikki in an Air-tight container. It will stay fine for up to days.
