Lasooni Paneer or Garlic Paneer is a unique and different tasting Paneer recipe. This Paneer recipe has a kick of the garlic and is so tasty. It has a thick, creamy, and delicious gravy that compliments the Garlic flavors. This Lasooni Paneer is best served with some Fried Rice or Naan. Although, Don't try it with Garlic Naan or else you won't be able to enjoy the garlic-y taste of the gravy.
Hello guys! Another week in September and I am back with another delicious Paneer recipe. This Paneer recipe is so unique and special. And also, it's very close to my heart. I love cooking Paneer recipes and when I cook it in a unique and different way, I feel so excited and thrilled.
Today, I thought of making this unique tasting Garlic Paneer. For those of you who hate Garlic, this recipe is so not for you! But I really feel sorry for you guys! Because this recipe is so amazing, that you are surely missing out on such a fantastic dish. However, I urge you to still make this recipe, even if that means opting out the garlic in every step. Trust me it'll still taste good.
When I think of Garlic Paneer, the first thought which comes to my mind is spicy Paneer gravy with the perfect kick of garlic in every bite. It should be spicy, it should be rich with flavors that balance Garlic such as Onions, Ginger, and Tomatoes so that the Garlic never feels lonely and it should have delicious chunks of Paneer popping out of the gravy! So yummm!
I love love love this Lasooni Paneer recipe. Unlike other Paneer recipes, this one is not quite traditional. In fact, I think this is quite a modern take on typical Paneer recipes, making it even more special and unique.
Making this Lassoni Paneer | Garlic Paneer
So to make this Garlic Paneer, the first step is to marinate the Paneer Pieces. I marinate the Paneer pieces with some spices such as Red Chili Powder, Garlic Paste, Salt, and Black Pepper Powder. I also add some Cornflour and Refined Oil to this and mix everything well and keep it aside for about 15 minutes. Marinating the Paneer with Cornflour and Oil will make it crispy for sure but will also, allow the spices to get stuck to the Paneer pieces and when we'll fry it, the spices won't fall off. They will be well coated with the Paneer Pieces and shall get fried to perfection.
Next for the gravy, I heat some Refined Oil in a Pan and add some Cumin seeds or Jeera and some Methi or Fenugreek seeds. Once it starts to sizzle, I add my chopped Onions and cook them until they get golden brown. Next, I add my Ginger Juillienes and chopped Garlic. I saute everything over a low flame and once they get done, I add my dry spices - Turmeric Powder, Red Chili Powder, Coriander Powder, and Cumin Powder. Once, I mix everything well, I allow my spices to get roasted over low flame. Roasting the spices is very important. It'll get rid of the raw smell of the spices.
Finally, I add my Tomato Puree and mix well. Once my tomatoes get cooked and oil starts to ooze out from the sides, I add my Fried Paneer Pieces to this. Also, I add the leftover Paneer Marinade and some water to make the gravy. Finally, I add a dollop of fresh cream and mix it well. Fresh cream helps bind all the flavors together and will also make the gravy of Lassoni Paneer very smooth and creamy!
Finally, I take it off the flame.
Next, I make some Tadka. For the Tadka, I heat some Vegetable Oil in a Pan and to it, I add some Dried Red Chilis, some ginger juliennes and some chopped garlic. Once the garlic and ginger get roasted, I pour the Tadka over the gravy.
Lastly, I simply garnish the gravy with some fresh cream and some chopped Coriander Leaves, and it is done!
So, this is how I make Lasooni Paneer. Isn't it so easy and super delicious?
This Lasooni Paneer is not at all, too garlic-ky. In fact, the Fenugreek or Methi Seeds works like a magic in toning down the extreme kick of garlic. It mellows it down to a level we love and tastes delicious. Also, the Heavy cream and chopped Coriander Leaves, make this super creamy and fresh!
