Navratri means day-long fasting and some simple yet filling recipes that you can quickly make. So, today, I have got you one of the easiest ever Navratri recipes - Samak Rice Halwa or Vrat Ka Halwa.
Samak Rice or Semo Rice or Samavat Ke Chawal or Vrat Ka Chawal - is the only grain of the family of rice, which is allowed to consume during the fasting days. This Samavat Ke Chawal or Barnyard Millet is actually very healthy. It helps reduce blood cholesterol levels, controls your blood pressure, and helps you feel full during the fasting days.
Ingredients required to make this
- Samvat Ke Chawal
- Sugar
- Ghee
- Water
- Milk
- Cashew Nuts and Almonds
Making the Samwat Ke Chawal Ka Halwa
To make this Vrat Ka Halwa -
- You start by grinding the Samvat rice into a smooth powder.
- Then, heat some oil in a Pan or Kadhai and add the Samvat rice. Toast it until it turns golden brown in color.
- Next, the Sugar and mix well. Also, add 4 cups of water. The water to chawal ratio is 4:1. Add the water in parts and keep stirring so that there are no lumps formed.
- Finally, add some milk and mix well. Milk to Chawal ratio is 1:1
- Once the Halwa has thickened, add the chopped Cashew Nuts or Kaju and Almonds or Badam and serve!
So, this is how you make the Samvat Ke Chawla Ka Halwa. This Vrat Ka Halwa is especially perfect for fasting days. Be it for Ekadashi Fasting or any other festival which requires fasting, you can quickly make this!

Samvat ke Chawal ka Halwa
Equipment
- frying pan or kadhai
Ingredients
- 1 cup Samvat Ke Chawal
- 1 cup Sugar
- 2 Tbsp Ghee
- 4 cup Water
- 1 cup Milk
- 1 cup Cashew Nuts & Almonds chopped
Instructions
- Grind the Samvat Chawal into a smooth powder.
- Heat some Ghee in a Pan. Add the Samvat Chawal Powder and stir over low flame. Keep the flame low and cook until it turns golden brown in color.Add the sugar and mix well.Add the hot water and the milk and mix well.
- Stir until the Halwa thicks and leaves the bottom of the pan. Take it out in a bowl, garnish with chopped Cashew Nuts and Almonds and serve!
